Geranium is a perennial shrub with broadly cordate, chartaceous leaves.
An essential oil is isolated from all parts of the plant. It contains citronellol, geraniol, or pinene, myricine, phellandrene and limonene. The oil has strong rose-like smell with minty top note, used widely in perfumery and cosmetics.
