Garlic (Allium sativum) grows in well-drained, friable soil with good organic matter content. The Garlic oil contains allicin, an active odorous element.
Garlic is used in any dishes including vegetable, meat and poultry dishes, particularly in casserole, stew and marinade. It is also used in Chinese cuisine. The extract of garlic is found to have a significant protective action against a fat induced increase in serum cholesterol and plasma fibrinogen and in fibrinolytic activity.
It is locally known as Lasuna.
