Ganiapal is an ancient Buddhist site in
Baragarh District of
Orissa. It is located 10 km from
Melchhamunda and is about 47 km east of Padampur.
The archeological excavations held here include large domes, monasteries, sculptures and other objects of archaeological importance. The images belong to the fourth century are of great historical significance.
The residents of Ganiapal, worship Yogibaba and Siddhababa of the Buddhist tradition, with all respect according as per Hindu beliefs and accept them as the presiding deities of the village.
Similikhol Cave, Nrusimhanath and Padampur Satidraha Siba Temple are some of the nearby tourist attractions.
