Foxglove is a biennial herb that grows on mountains, usually on acid soils. It belongs to the family Scrophulariaceae. The Foxglove derives its common name from the shape of the flowers resembling the finger of a glove.
The herb is prescribed as a remedy for cardiac diseases. The leaves contain cardiac glycosides, saponins, organic acids, tannins and mucilage. It is used in inflammatory infections, palpitation, phrenitis, scrofula and mania.
