Firecracker Flower




Firecracker (Scientific Name, Crossandra infundibuliformis), indigenous to South India, is a tropical perennial shrub cultivated in fields. It is a year round flowering plant of Acanthaceae family.

This small evergreen shrub is normally considered as a houseplant. Firecracker is characterized by green leaves and bright salmon-orange flower. Flowers are seen in different colors such as orange (common color), red and yellow. The shrub can also be grown in pots or containers and as a border plant. It likes organically rich, medium wet, well-drained soils in part shade. Firecracker is very sensitive to cold and frost, and is kept indoors in winter.
