Erattupetta




Situated at the confluence of two rivers, Erattupetta is a town in Kottayam District and is renowned as the ‘Gateway of Malanad’. Earlier it was known as 'Erapoli' or 'Erapuzha'. The town rests on the banks of Meenachil River and is an ideal tourist spot encircled by tea gardens, beautiful meadows, deep puzzling valleys and dales. Erattupetta is a famous trading center for spices, rubber, arecanut and other agricultural products. The main attractions are Elaveezha Poonchira, Kolani Mudi, Kannadippara Waterfalls, Pazhukkakanam, Illicakal Kallu, Ayyampara, Marmala Aruvi, Kottathavalam and Kurisumala. Aruvithura church and Erattupetta Mosque are the two popular pilgrimage spots of Erattupetta. The town is also in close proximity to the Sabarimala temple.

The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport, located 76 km from Kottayam town. Kottayam is the nearest railhead.
