Ephedra




Ephedra or Ephedra Gerardiana Wall (Asmania) is a small plant about one meter high. It contains alkaloids named ephedrine and pseudo-ephedrine. Ephedrine is similar to adrenaline in pharmacological action. Ayurvedic name of Ephedra is Somlata.

Ephedra is mainly used in the treatment of bronchial asthma and is useful in acute rheumatism. Continuous use of Ephedra relieves pain and it maintains the patient's health. Ephedra is very useful for the treatment of rheumatic troubles and heart disorders.
