Eastern Rosella (Platycercus eximus) has bright red head, neck, shoulders and breast. Yellow belly, greenish-yellow rump, green back edged in greenish-black. Eyes are brown, beak grey and legs dark brown.
The bird is seen in open grassy terrain spotted with trees and bushes, often near rivers. Diet consists of grass and weed seeds, wheat kernels, apples, carrots and green food. They make nest from a bed of wood dust in gum tree hollows. Females lay four to eight eggs.
