Durga Chalisa

Durga Chalisa is considered one of the most revered forms of prayer dedicated to Goddess Durga, the mother goddess. The word ‘chalisa,’ meaning forty, indicates the total number of verses in the collection. The recital of these verses is seen as an important medium for invoking the goddess, who is known for her generous blessings of wealth, prosperity and knowledge.

The Durga Chalisa may be simply read or sung. It is often mixed with other chants and rendered in a classical fashion. It is often recommended for the persons who seek the blessings of the goddess to get their wishes fulfilled. Persons meditating on the goddess usually chant these verses.
