Duffmuttu

Also known as Aravanamuttu, Duffmuttu is a popular group performance among the Muslims of Malabar. Usually, it is performed during festivals and nuptial ceremonies. In Duffmuttu, the performers beat on a quaint round percussion instrument called the Duffu and the leader of the group sings the lead, while the others form the chorus and move in circles. The songs are often tribute to martyrs, heroes and saints. It can be performed at any time and has no fixed time limit.
