Dhangari Gaja Dance is performed by Dhangars (shepherds) of Solapur District
. It is performed to appease their god 'Biruba'. Throughout the year, they take their herds to green pastures for grazing and return home once in a year to honour 'Biruba'.

Marathi dresses - Dhoti, Angarakha and Pheta with colourful handkerchiefs. Dancers are accompanied by a group of drum players.
