Devapureeswarar-Deva Gurunathar Temple




Devapureeswarar-Deva Gurunathar Temple is situated at Tiruttever, Tiruvarur District. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Devapureeswarar. It is belived that Brihaspati, the guru of the devas, worshipped at this place and hence the name. The temple covers an area of one acre. The sacred tree is Vazhaimaram and the sacred theertham is Deva Theertham. Sage Sambandar has sung hymns praising the lord. The main annual festival celebrated is in the Tamil month of Vaikasi (mid May - mid June).
