Deccan Odyssey




Deccan Odyssey, also known as the Palace on Wheels of Maharashtra, is a train that runs along the Konkan route. It is a luxury train modeled on the Palace on Wheels.

The journey commences and ends at Mumbai, and the weeklong tour covers several exotic destinations such as Ganapatipule, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Nasik, Aurangabad and the world heritage sites of Ajanta and Ellora. The ride also covers beautiful beaches of Goa and Maharashtra and grand forts and palaces of the Marathas.

The train has 13 fully air-conditioned deluxe saloons, each a combination of four twin bedded chambers with wall to wall carpeting, attached bath and hot and cold water. Besides, there are two presidential suite cars. Each coach is named after forts and important landmarks. Restaurants, a well-stocked bar, business center, gymnasium and conference room are the added comforts.

The tariff ranges from Rs 18,000 to Rs 31,500. Tariff is inclusive of travel, catering, conducted sight-seeing, entrance fee for monuments, parks, palaces, cultural programs and boat ride. Journey departs from Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station on every Wednesday evening and returns the next Wednesday morning.
