Dead Sea Apple is a tall, branched and perennial shrub found in dry, sandy and alkaline soils, and warm climate. The bark is soft and light brown in color. Branches are stout and terete with fine appressed cottony pubescence (especially on young).The leaves are opposite, decussate, elliptic or obovate, acute, and glaucous.
They are used to relieve stomach pain. The flower is useful in cholera. Dead Sea Apple possesses bitter, healing, laxative and anthemintic properties that relieves strangury and cures ulcers. It also acts as an expectorant. It is also known as Swallow-Wort or Sodom Apple.
