Dawrawn Basket




Dawrawn is a closed-weave basket used by the Lushai tribe of Mizoram. It is a typical carrying basket used for storage purpose or for carrying farm produce.

Dawrawn is tall and narrow in structure, characterized by its square base and circular rim. The base measures diagonally 190 mm, while the rim has a diameter of 420 mm. The overall height is 740 mm. The basket is woven using bamboo splits. The rim and the edges of the bottom are strengthened with cane splits.
