Datura




Datura stramonium is a plant one meter in height. Datura has large egg-shaped leaves and white flowers. The flowers of Datura are believed to be associated with Lord Shiva.

Leaves of the plant contain alkaloids. Datura seeds are used for the treatment of asthma. Indigenous to India, Datura was used by ancient Hindu physicians as an intoxicant, with digestive and healing powers.

Datura fruit is a specific remedy for bilious type of malarial fever. Datura is used for heart disorders, earache, baldness, problem of breast milk secretion. It reduces spasmodic disorders and induces deep sleep.
