Danaid Eggfly Butterfly

Danaid Eggfly (Hypolimnas misippus), also called Common Eggfly or Diadem, is seen in open places with moderate rainfall in India.

The male is very active and highly territorial, often comes back to the same spot repeatedly. It is fond of basking in the sun by resting on bushes or ground with continuous slow movement of wings to the sides. Danaid Eggfly feeds on the flowers such as lantana, common zinnia, sunflower, Aztec marigold, bachelor's button, golden groundsel and vipers bugloss.
