Dakshineshwar Kali Temple

Around 20 km from Kolkata's BBD Bagh, Dakshineshwar Kali Temple at Dakshineshwar is close to the Vivekananda Bridge. This Kali temple was built by Rani Rasmoni in the 19th century on the banks of the Hooghly River. It has a shrine of Goddess Kali and there are 12 temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is famous because Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, renowned preacher and guru of Swami Vivekananda, had achieved his spiritual vision in this temple.
