D. K. Pattammal

D. K. Pattammal is a gifted Carnatic vocalist. Born on March 2, 1919 at Kanchipuram, she took her lessons from eminent masters such as P. Sambamurthy, Justice TL Venkatarama Iyer, and Ambi Dikshitar. She made her debut performance at the age of 14. Pattammal has received several awards including Sangita Kalanidhi, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, etc. In addition, she has been given the title of 'Gana Saraswati'.
