Coppersmith Barbet (Megalima haemacephala) is a heavy billed grass-green barbet with crimson breast and forehead. The bird grows up to 17 cm in size. It has yellow throat and green streaked yellowish underparts. Tail is short truncated, distinctly triangular in flight silhouette.
The bird can be seen singly or scattered on banyan trees. Nesting season is from January to June. Its nest is usually a hole excavated in a snag of a dead softwood branch. Coppersmith Barbet lays 2 to 4 glossless white eggs.
