Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) is a small wader. Adults have short yellowish legs and a bill with a pale base and dark tip. The body is grayish brown on top. Upperparts are warm brown and underparts white, showing clear demarcation between dark breast and white belly.
It nests on the ground, usually quite close to the water's edge. These birds search for food on ground or water, picking up food by sight. Insects, crustaceans and other invertebrates are also consumed.
