Common Pierrot Butterfly




One of the common of butterflies in India, Common Pierrot (Castalius rosimon rosimon) lives in open areas and thinly wooded country up to 1300 m altitude in South India and up to 2500 m altitude in the Himalayas. It is a slow flier and basks more after the rains. The insect likes damp patches, dead insects and bird droppings.
