Common Gull Butterfly




One of the commonest migrant butterflies in India, Common Gull (Cepora nerissa nerissa) is found in plains throughout the year and in hills of South India from June to November. It can be also seen in the Himalayas, up to an altitude of 1300 m.

The butterfly is very strong in flight near the ground. After a long flight, it rests on an exposed leaf or bush. They feed on flowers of tridax procumbens, sida rhombifolia, alternanthera and lantana.
