Common Grass Yellow Butterfly




Common Grass Yellow (Eurema hecabe simulata), a yellow colored butterfly of 4-5 cm, is common in Shillong, Meghalaya.

The forewing has two black spots, while the upper surface of hind wing carries a narrow black border. Many other varieties are recognized under this family (Linnaeus). The butterfly is fond of flowers of acacias, horse-purslane, lantana, Ceylon carissa, and bachelors button.
