Common Emigrant Butterfly

One of the commonest butterflies in India, Common Emigrant (Catopsilia crocale) is found in the wet places of Western Ghats.

This migrant species can cover long distances high above the ground in straight, powerful, long, up-and-down curved flight. The butterfly feeds on Ceylon carissa, lantana, fiddle-leaved jatropha, poinsettia, bougainvillea, pomegranate, cotton and sunflower.
