Common Dandelion




Common Dandelion belongs to the family Asteraceae. It is a small herbaceous plant with milky juice and a bright golden yellow solitary flower, found throughout the temperate Himalayas.

Medicines prepared from common dandelion are given for the treatment of gallstones, jaundice, muscular rheumatism and chronic disorders of kidneys and liver. It is used in the Chinese systems of medicine against breast cancer.

It is found commonly in Himachal Pradesh. Dugdapheni, Dudhli, Dudal, and Kanphul are its other local names.
