Cholamandal Artist’s Village is situated in the midst of casuarinas grove in the village Injambakkam, 9 km from
Tamil Nadu’s capital city,
Chennai. It serves as the meeting ground for the international artists including musicians, dancers, writers and film artists. Today the village is occupied by thirty painters and sculptors who formed it and run the Artists Handicrafts Association.
The village holds a permanent art gallery for exhibitions and an open-air theater for the artists to prove their talent. The guest houses in the village offers accommodation. The independent units of the guest house comprises of working and living place, kitchenette, toilet, rest place and a balcony overlooking the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal. It houses two artist’s studios each with a large studio, toilet and kitchenette.
Cholamandal Artist’s Village runs a small self-sufficient co-operative unit. The village is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00 hrs. Golden Beach is just about 10 minute walking distance from Cholamandal. Chennai International Airport is the nearest airport.
