Chokkanathaswamy Temple

Chokkanathaswamy Temple, situated on the main Domlur Road, is one of the oldest temples in Bangalore. Constructed in the 10th century by the Cholas, it is a charming west facing temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple, raised on a high platform, enshrines saligrama stone images of Lord Vishnu or Sokka Perumal and his consorts Sri and Bhu in the garbhagriha. It has two Vijayanagar style ardhamandapas. The exquisite carvings and sculptures on the walls and pillars exhibit scenes from mythological tales.
