Chham Dance
Buddhist mask dance performed in monasteries
Chham (Lama Dance) is a ritualistic masked dance performed in Buddhist monasteries on festive occasions. The lamas wear clothes of mysterious appearance and dreadful masks symbolic of various classes of good and evil spirits. On account of these dreadful masks, the performance is also called devil dance. A weapon named phurbu is wielded while dancing.
