Cherussery Narasimha Murthi Temple




Cherussery Narasimha Murthi Temple is an ancient temple situated about 10 km south of Thrissur at Cherussery, in Kerala. The temple has two sanctum sanctorum, one dedicated to Lord Narasimhamurthy and other to Lord Vamanamurthy.

Lord Narasimhamurthy, the fourth embodiment of Lord Vishnu, is seen in an fierce form. Separate niches are earmarked for the deities of Lord Ganesh, Lord Ayyappa and Goddess Durga. Nazhiyum Pidiyum is the main offering of the temple. A sacred tank is located nearby. Narasimha Jayanthi Festival, celebrated amid much pomp and splendor, attracts thousands of devotees from far and near. Festival celebrating the installation of the idol is another major draw.

Thrissur Railway Station and Cochin International Airport are the nearest major access points.
