Chebulic Myrobalan is a tree with a rounded crown and spreading branches and is found throughout India. The bark, dark-brown color, is longitudinally cracked. The leaves are ovate or elliptic with a pair of large glands at the top of the petiole. The fruits are drupe, pendulous, obovoid from a broad base and glabrous.
Haritaki is reported to be a rejuvenative, tonic, astringent, laxative, nervine, expectorant, anthelmintic and alterative.
It is also known as Haritaki and Harad.
