Chandanwari is located about 16 km from
Pahalgam, towards
Amarnath Cave, in
Jammu and Kashmir. Situated at an altitude of about 3288 m above sea level, it is a popular health resort in the state. This charming picnic spot is only one day hike from Pahalgam and back. Chandanwari is also famous for its snow bridge.
Legend has it that, Chandanwari is the place where Lord Shiva left the moon that adorned his hair on his way to Amarnath Cave.
