Calendula grows in cool, temperate climates. The stem is angular, glandular and hairy. The petals have a pungent and spicy flavor. The leaves are bitter.
The petals are used in fish and meat soups, rice dishes and salads. It is also used as a coloring substance in cheese and butter.
Calendula heals external wounds as well as internal and external ulcers. Calendula cream is good for acne and diaper rash.
It is also known as Pot Marigold and Zergul.
