Incorporated in 1862, Calcutta Polo Club (CPC) is the oldest existing polo club in the world. It was established by Joe Sherer, a British man who discovered the polo game in India. The club caters to the needs of polo lovers in and around
Kolkata, the capital city of
West Bengal. The golf course has hosted many matches of national importance till the eighties.
Once frequented by the royals, the club is at present in a poor condition due to lack of proper management. Memberships are open to all who love polo.
