Burburi

Burburi is a cylindrical two-faced drum used by the devotees of Mariamman, a popular goddess of South India. This friction drum is beaten on one side with a straight stick and the other side is rubbed with a curved twig. Similar method is employed in Urumi, an hourglass drum in Tamil Nadu.
