Boswellia (Ayurvedic name, Salai Guggal) is a moderate to large branching tree, seen in dry hilly areas of India. The trunk and branch bark are gray in color having hard, sharp and conical prickles. Leaves are large, deciduous, digitate, and glabrous.
Boswellia has refrigerant, diuretic, aromatic, demulcent, aperient, and alterative properties. Boswellia can be used in rheumatic, nervous diseases, and oral care. The Boswellia oil is also used in aromatherapy.
