Borage (Borago officinalis) is an annual plant having a hollow, bristly stem, oval leaves, and blue or purple, star-shaped flowers. It is commonly found in sunny, open places and light, well-drained soil.
Borage is used as a tonic, diaphoretic, febrifuge and galactagogue. It contains gama linoleic acid (GLA), potassium, calcium and other minerals. Borage is considered as an alternate for simulating kidneys. Young leaves are used in salads to get a cucumber taste.
