Bluethroat




Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) is a small robin-like bird of about 14 cm in size. The male is distinctive in spring with its bright blue thraot, bordered below with bands of black, white and chestnut. The central throat spot can be white or chestnut. The bird is quite secretive, flicking into the cover of a bush with a flash of its chestnut tail patches. Diet consists of insects, caterpillars and berries.
