The Blue-throated Barbet (Megalaima asiatica) is a highly colored chunky looking bird, which is primarily green in color. It is 28 cm in length. The bird has blue face and throat along with a red forehead and black band across the crown. The males tend to be a little bit larger than the females.
Diet consists of fruit but can also include berries, figs and occasionally insects. The bird prefers open forests, orchards and groves. Nest is constructed in the trunks and branches of trees.
