Blue-faced Malkoha (Phaenicophaeus viridirostris), one of the largest members in the family Cuculidae, is found in the open forests and scrub jungle of Sri Lanka and southern India.
A fully grown adult male measures about 39 cm. The head and back are darkish green while the throat and belly are lighter green in color. Its upper tail is green edged with white. A large blue patch can be seen around its eye. Young ones are duller and barred above.
Blue-faced Malkoha feeds on a variety of insects, caterpillars and small vertebrates. Occasionally, berries are also consumed.
Blue-faced Malkoha can be seen in the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, Kerala.
