Blue Tiger Butterfly

Blue Tiger Butterfly (Tirumala limniace exoticus) is an attractive variety of Indian butterflies seen in plains and hills. It is rarely seen in the deserts and higher altitudes.

The wings with pale blue patterns on black background keep the butterfly nice-looking. While perching on the wooded places and hedges, it flaps its wings dynamically except when drinking honey from a flower. Their favorite flowers are pink cock's comb, aztec marigold, lucerne, lantana, heliotrope and sunnhemp. By noticing the wing edges and color, one can predict the age of the butterfly.
