Blue Pansy Butterfly

Blue Pansy (Precis orithya), a sexually dimorphic butterfly, is found throughout India, more in dry open plains than in forests. The male is a unique color combination of blue and black, while the female is purple-brown color. During daytime, it is very active and visits the flowers such as aztec marigold, bachelor's button, lantana, lucerne, heliotrope, vicoavestita and celosia pyramidalis. Blue Pansy lives on dry riverbeds and stony paths.
