Blood flower
Called Kakatundi in local parlance
Blood flower (Asclepias curassavica) is an herbaceous plant growing as a common roadside weed. It is also cultivated in greenhouses and gardens. The flower (scarlet-orange in colour), leaf and root (called Pleurisy root) has diaphoretic, anthelmintic, purgative, and emetic properties. It is used to cure stomach tumour, piles, gonorrhoea, and warts.
