Black Musale (Curculigo orchioides) is a small perennial herb. It is characterized by sessile or short petiolate leaves, bright yellow flowers, and an elongated tuberous rootstock with lateral roots.
The herb contains free sugars, mucilage, hemicelluloses and other polysaccharides. The root has demulcent, restorative, tonic and aphrodisiac properties. It is recognized as a remedy for piles, jaundice and asthma. It is also known as Krishna musli and Kali musli.
