Black-Capped Lory

Black-Capped Lory is a stocky shy bird with a ringing, melodious cry, quite unlike the usual screeching of parrots. The head and upper breast are red except for a black cap, which has a purple gloss. The wings are green, and abdomen is bright blue as is the hind neck. The beak and eyes are orange.

They are usually seen in pairs or small groups. In general, Lories are arboreal. They feed on nectar, pollen, flowers, fruit and insects. The bird has an average life span of 35 years.
