Bhuvaneshwari

Bhuvaneshwari, the bestower of absolute power, is the queen (Ishvari) of the phenomenal world (Bhuvan). She is one of the ten Mahavidyas. Her appearance is sombre, complexion is red like a rising sun, and she has the moon as her diadem.

She is depicted with a hook and a noose in her hand, which symbolises her controlling power. Bhuvaneshwari is considered the fourth great cosmic power among the Hindu gods. Bhuvaneshwari, who protects the world, is the divine mother with the whole universe as her body and its materials as her jewels. She blesses her devotees with powers and makes them fearless.

The form of the goddess is present in the mantra 'Hrim'. One who devotionally and faithfully chants this mantra and performs homa, and feeds the brahmins is believed to attain divinity.
