Bhumyamalaki (Latin name, Phyllanthus amarus) is an herb having rigid, short, and prostrate stem. It is found throughout India, as a weed in cultivated and waste lands.
The plant contains Amariin, corilagin, 1, 6-digalloyl-glucopyranoside as well as a rutin and quercetin-3-O-glucopyranoside. It is prescribed as medicine for flu, dropsy, diabetes, jaundice, asthma, bronchial infections, and diseases of the liver.
