Bhillama, the son of Mallugi, founded the Yadava dynasty in the west around 1187. He founded Devgiri (later Daulatabad), 13 km from Aurangabad, as his capital. During his reign, he built an invisible fort at Devgiri. It is considered as one of the masterpieces of defensive engineering. He defeated Someshwara II, the last king of Chalukyas of Kalyani, and occupied the northern parts of his kingdom. Bhillama also fought against Dwarasamudra and Kulottunga III of the Chola kingdom. At last he was killed by Ballala II.
