Bhikkhus is a term generally used for the male monastics of Buddhism. This term originates from Pali and Sanskrit. For entering into the Buddhist monastic community, the monks must obey certain rules and regulations based on Vinaya (discipline). According to tradition, Bhikkhu, the monk, must beg his food from the surroundings. The monks must have only the barest minimum of possessions such as three robes, begging bowl, cloth belt, needle and thread, razor and water filter for drinking water.
