Bheri

A percussion instrument, Bheri is a two-faced conical drum of 65 cm in length. The user plays one face with hand and the other with a stick. Rana Bheri (used in war), Ananda Bheri (by milkmaids in their dances) and Madana Bheri (with songs) are some among the varieties. This ancient drum is mentioned in ‘ Sangeeta Ratnakara,’ a greater work on music written in the 13th century.
